The San Juan Regional Tactical Response Unit has begun providing regional tactical training to area law enforcement agencies. The training is being coordinated by SJRTRU and the Lower Rio Grande Valley Police Academy. This regional training will not be possible if we did not have the support of the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council and the Regional Police Academy's Director Paul Williams. We sincerely thank them for their support on our training efforts.
The first regional training was a basic swat course conducted in december of last year. We had over 8 different law enforcement agencies that participated in this training.
On January 18-20th we conducted a Regional Tactical Operator Training in which we had Local, County, State and Federal law enforcement agencies that participated. Our intent is to share as much information with different agencies and regionalized our training. We know that this approach requires alot of networking with all law enforcement agencies and our committment to regionalized tactics, concepts and strategies will not happen overnight.
We have received alot of good feedback on our regional training concept from all the participants and their Chiefs Of Police /Administrators. We will continue to provide the training and evaluate what tactics, concepts and strategies will work best for our operations. Please provide any feedback to us and suggest any new training.
