Feds award $70,000.00 to San Juan Police Department LEERRT

 The San Juan Regional Tactical Response Unit received $39,000.00 dollars in 2010 from the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council Homeland Security Appropriations Committee. We were able to purchase tactical equipment that will been utilized by participating law enforcement agencies.

 

On June 2nd, 2011 we were granted a Contractucal Training Provider License by the Texas Commission On Law Enforcement Standards & Education at their quarterly meeting in Austin, Texas. We will be able to approved tcleose credit to all of our training courses.

    

On June 9th, 2011 we were approved a grant for an additional $70,000.00 dollars that will be used to purchase additional ballistic tactical equipment for operators from all the different participating agencies. The grant awards will be handed out in August 2011.

 

On June 15th, 2011 we were awarded a seizure of 60 Level III Ballistic Kevlar Helmets seized during a traffic stop back in January 2011. We conducted a joint investigation with ICE and were able to receive this seizure. We will assign these helmets to participating SWAT teams in the Rio Grande Valley.

 

On June 23rd, 2011 we distributed these helmets to surrounding swat teams and raid teams; Edinburg Police Department, Donna Police Department, Palmview Police Department, Mercedes Police Department & Weslaco Police Department.
